Only last week we heard an exiting rumour that the proposed Diamond Trial has been fully funded which means the leading dietetic team in the UK based at Oxford University are looking to run a trial using a low calorie keto diet for weight loss. This type of study has never been done before in the UK and I suspect will get the same outcomes as the on going Virta project in the USA. The Virta project is the creation of one of the worlds leaders in Keto, Dr Steve Phinney, who successfully raised money in the USA to put thousands of people with type 2 diabetes onto a keto diet. 3 years on 60% plus have reversed thier diabetes completely and a significant other percentage have reduced thier medication. Nothing like this exists in the UK at present.

Whilst for some this might seem un exciting but it is a major breakthrough for keto. Up till very recently keto diets were not taken seriously by leaders in dietetics in the UK but it would appear that this view is no longer relevant.

One day we may have our own Virta offering for our population.
